Adele Botha - Kabega Primary

Since joining Kabega Primary in 2012, Adele Botha has been a true eco-champion, leading the school’s recycling programme to national and international recognition. Under her guidance, the project grew to win multiple awards, including a WESSA International flag, PlasticsSA’s National Recycling Primary School award twice, the Eastern Cape Top Green Award, the WESSA Group Award 2024, and The Glass Recycling Company’s overall winner in 2024. Adele inspired learners through Groenspoor prefects, beach, river, and community cleanups, and participation in environmental competitions, with three students winning the Pick n Pay National Award for Environmental Awareness. She also led teacher and community training, empowering others to care for the environment. Her dedication demonstrates how one person’s leadership can transform a school and community into a model of sustainability..
Lindela Mjenxane - Beyond Expectation Environmental Project (BEEP)

Lindela Mjenxane, founder of the Beyond Expectation Environmental Project (BEEP), is transforming South Africa’s most vulnerable youth into visionary climate leaders. Drawing on lived experience, he uses nature—especially Table Mountain—as a platform for psycho-social healing, environmental education, and mentorship. Since 2006, BEEP has reached over 31,000 youth from Cape Town’s informal settlements, cultivating responsibility, unity, and service. Under Lindela’s guidance, mentees achieve a 100% matric pass rate, with 71% qualifying for university. More than 60 scholars are now in tertiary education, and 20 alumni have launched green enterprises. Through nature excursions, mentorship, climate education, and local adaptation projects, Lindela builds resilience and fosters eco-justice from the ground up. His work embodies tenacity, vision, and a deep commitment to a just, sustainable future for people and the planet.
Zoë Prinsloo - Save a Fishie

Save a Fishie is a non-profit dedicated to cleaning South Africa’s beaches and raising environmental awareness. Founded by Zoë Prinsloo, who began beach clean-ups at age 10 and officially launched the organisation in 2017 at 16, Save a Fishie has run over 380 clean-ups, collecting more than 37 tons of litter. Zoë has partnered with over 20 schools, 50 companies, and multiple organisations to expand the impact. She set a World Record for the longest continuous beach cleanup, working 27 hours to raise awareness. The organisation is about to launch its third annual Coast 2 Coast Campaign, cleaning the entire South African coastline, having collected over 5 tons of litter in the last campaign. Zoë is also piloting a year-long environmental education programme for Grades 1–5 and preparing her first environmental storybook.
