We are pleased to announce that this year's recipient of the Eco-Intelligence Award is Mark D. Anderson, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of conservation and his unwavering dedication to the principles of Eco-Logical thinking.

Mark D. Anderson, the Chief Executive Officer of BirdLife South Africa, has demonstrated exceptional leadership in conservation. Over the past 15 years, he has transformed BirdLife South Africa into a profitable NGO with national and international recognition. Mark's initiatives, including the reduction of albatross fatalities in South Africa's trawl fishery and conservation efforts for penguins, vultures, and flamingos, have made a significant impact on bird conservation. He has also been a remarkable fundraiser and established BirdLife National Trust for sustainable funding. Mark's tireless work on the Mouse-Free Marion Project showcases his commitment to the preservation of endangered bird species. His vision and integrity have earned him respect and recognition on the global stage, making him a worthy winner of the Eco-Intelligence Lifetime Award at the 2023 Eco-Logic Awards.
