#2 Entry date for 2015 Eco-Logic Awards extended



Due to the rising popularity of the Eco-Logic Awards, the deadline for entries has been extended from today (31 July) to Friday 14 August.

The Awards, hosted by The Enviropaedia since 2011, identify and promote individuals, organisations, products and services that are working to achieve a more sustainable Planet.

Entrants may choose to participate in multiple categories, which are: Water Conservation, Energy Efficiency, Eco-Innovation, Green Economy initiative,Transport, Recycling and Waste Management, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Municipalities, Eco-Youth, Eco-Community, Eco-Angel and Eco-Warrior.

Entering the Awards is free of charge, thanks to the support of the sponsors.

Pick n Pay is sponsoring the 2015 Eco-Youth Award.Andre Nel, Pick n Pay’s General Manager for Sustainability said: “Pick n Pay is proud to be able to recognise those inspiring young leaders who are making a difference – in communities and schools, in their homes, through consumer choices and innovative sustainability programmes.”

The National Business Initiative (NBI) has chosen to sponsor the Energy Efficiency category in an effort to champion effective energy management that promotes clean and efficient energy solutions towards a sustainable and competitive economy.

“This is especially important since energy is a key socio-economic driver and has environmental impact. We encourage companies/organisations to enter this category in an effort to promote and encourage best practice,” said Valerie Geen, head of Energy at NBI.

Santam is sponsoring the Municipalities Award for the third year. “We see this as our contribution to creating more effective governance structures which could lead to improved service deliveries in municipalities where the community and surrounding business will benefit,” said Erica Wicomb, Environmental Sustainability project co-ordinator.

Winners will be announced at a Glamorously Green Award Ceremony, to be held at Kirstenbosch, Cape Town, on Tuesday 20 October.
